You can choose to be an active member and give your time to rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife or in a supporting role.
If you chose to be an active rescuer/carer you must complete a Rescue and Immediate Care Course (RICC) before being issued with an authority to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife.

All members contribute to FAWNA’s vital wildlife work through their annual membership fee, which helps fund rehabilitation activities.
A FAWNA member can also assist with other roles.
- A phone operator on our 24/7 hotline
- Construction work e.g. specialised wildlife holding pens or rehab cages
- Newsletter production
- Fundraising activities
- Catering for meetings
- Sewing pouches for marsupials
- Admin tasks
Members receive seasonal newsletters and can attend quarterly meetings and the AGM, offering a great opportunity to network and connect with fellow wildlife carers. Becoming part of this active volunteer community is simple.
FAWNA deals with all native wildlife with the exception of koalas that are the responsibility of our sister groups, Koala Conservation Australia and Koalas in Care.
